CRITICALLY IMPORTANT:

How to Measure for Drawer Boxes when using the full extension, soft-close UNDERMOUNT drawer slide kits that we sell:

  • Measure the width, height and depth (to the back wall of the cabinet) of the drawer box opening that the New drawer box will fit into.

HEIGHT MEASUREMENT:

  • These UNDERMOUNT drawer slides REQUIRE that the drawer opening be AT LEAST 5/8" taller than the Height of the drawer box.
  • For instance, if the height of the drawer box opening is 5 1/2" high, a drawer box any larger than 4 7/8" high would NOT fit in the opening without cutting away some of the opening to make it slightly higher. Since the next smaller drawer box height that we supply may be only 4" high, you may decide to enlarge the opening (with a handheld sabre saw) by 1/4" AT THE BOTTOM of the opening, so you an opening that is 3/4" higher than the height of the drawer box.
  • Cutting the opening larger at the BOTTOM is preferred, because there will be plenty of room for the saw, and it will always be blocked by the either the drawer front or the drawer box itself, so it can be done either BEFORE or AFTER your refacing project is completed.

WIDTH MEASUREMENT:

  • If ordering these slides for a 5/8" thick ASPEN, MAPLE, or FINGER-JOINTED WHITE BIRCH drawer box, THE OVERALL WIDTH OF THE DRAWER BOX SHOULD BE MADE 3/8" NARROWER THAN THE DRAWER OPENING WIDTH OF THE CABINET.
  • If ordering these slides for the 1/2" thick Baltic Birch drawer box, THE OVERALL WIDTH OF THE DRAWER BOX SHOULD BE MADE 5/8" NARROWER THAN THE DRAWER OPENING WIDTH OF THE CABINET.

DEPTH MEASUREMENT:

  • Use the deepest (front to back) drawer box that will fit in the cabinet. If the cabinet measures 22 7/8" from the front of the face on the cabinet to the back wall on the cabinet, then order a 21" deep drawer box. Do Not order an 18" deep (front to back) drawer box simply because your old drawer box was that depth! Not only will you be giving up valuable space, but when you order an 18" deep drawer box, you will be getting 18" long drawer slides, which will not reach to the backwall of the cabinet!

    Drawer Box Wood

  • Mount the Clips to the BACK of the Drawer Bottom as shown below

Mount the Slides in the cabinet as seen below

Extend the slides, and lay the drawer over the slides, then 'SNAP' it into place by pushing the box back onto the slides so that the slide locks onto the grey clips you installed on the underside of the box, and the rear part of the slide locks into the holes drilled into the back of the drawer box.

When these slides are ordered, all the necessary "Notching" and other machining that is required will be included in the price.

IN ALL CASES, REMEMBER THAT THE HEIGHT OF THE DRAWER BOX MUST BE AT LEAST 5/8" SHORTER THAN THE HEIGHT OF THE OPENING.
