HOW TO INSTALL GLASS IN A FRAME-ONLY OR MULLION DOOR
Article

NEARLY ALL PROFESSIONALS PUT A BEAD OF CLEAR SILICONE ON THE INSIDE 90 DEGREE "CROTCH" WHERE THE GLASS WILL SIT, AND LAY THE GLASS IN, ALLOWING THE SILICONE TO STICK TO IT AS WELL AS 'SANDWICH' AROUND THE EDGES. DON'T USE TOO MUCH. JUST ENOUGH TO CRADLE THE GLASS. LET IT SIT OVERNIGHT . DON'T SMEAR THE SILICONE AROUND! IF YOU USED TOO MUCH, LET IT SET, THEN CUT OFF THE EXCESS WITH A RAZOR.

THIS IS THE METHOD WE ALWAYS USE. IT PREVENTS THE GLASS FROM BEING STRESSED AT ANY SINGLE POINT, AND ALSO PREVENTS THE GLASS FROM RATTLING.

EVERY PRO WE KNOW USES THE "SILICONE" METHOD, SO THE STANDARD METHOD WE USE (AND SELL) IS THE ONE SHOWN BELOW, ATTACHING THE GLASS WITH CLEAR ADHESIVE CAULK (DAP brand SILICONE CAULK is what we use). You can use HIGH QUALITY white siliconized or 100% silicone caulk if the doors are white thermofoil.

NOTE: WE HAVE SEEN SOME STRANGE "BLEEDING" EFFECTS (AND EVEN TURNING THE WOOD NEON GREEN!) WHEN USING 100% G.E. BRAND SILICONE, SO WE DO NOT RECOMMEND GENERAL ELECTRIC (G.E.) 100% SILICONE!! SEE THE PHOTO BELOW FOR THIS STRANGE PHENOMENOM.
